Vertical Portrait of a shy, male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. ( Archilochus colubris) Sometimes the hummingbirds that visit me stay hidden, especially if I am trying to create their portrait! We can see he recently left the nest- so far he only has one red feather on his neck. Hummingbirds really enjoy these tubular Firecracker flowers, which thrive in part sun and somewhat dry soil.
