I've been reading Ted William's book, "Big Medicine from Six Nations". One chapter includes the entire Iroquois Thanksgiving address, which was spoken before all major Longhouse events. It is quite moving. Here is a direct quote about the Plant Life Element:
"From the bottom of the deepest ocean to the top of the highest mountain, we have all of these green growing things...billions and billions of leaves...each producing pure oxygen in photosynthesis with the Day Sun that we may breathe more healthfully...billions and billions of leaves...each waiting for us to exhale carbon dioxide.. that they, too, may breathe...that this exchange can be perpetual... and we know, then, that we are indeed an intricate part of this Divine and Harmonious Universe."
