Due to destruction of natural habitat and pesticede use, Monarch butterflies are becoming increasingly rare. Groups such as the National Wildlife Federation and the Xerxes Society are encouraging homeowners to plant milkweed plants and wildlife gardens to help support these beautiful creatures.
