Vertical color image of a blonde phase Alaska grizzly bear cub running along the beach in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. This was the more dominant of the two bear cubs from the same mother, and that was what gave me the idea for the title. This cub certainly was enjoying being in ‘first place’, even if it may have been a short lived position- only fifty percent of grizzly bear cubs survive until their first birthday. I certainly hope that this one beat the odds.
