Every bird, no matter how large or small, beautiful or plain, has a biological drive to breed and raise a family. Here we have the common House Sparrow ( Passer domestics); a young male in non-breeding plumage, investigating a tree cavity. A White-breasted Nuthatch had been going in and out of this hole with birdseed. Whether the Sparrow was looking for fast food or a new home I do not know. It was interesting behavior to observe.
