Vertical photograph of a male Red-winged blackbird ( Agelaius phoenicius) perched on a marsh reed on a bright, sunny day. The brownish-red feather tips are characteristic of a first year male bird. Photographed at Mariner Point Park in Joppatowne, Md. The Red-winged Blackbird was my favorite bird when I was a little girl. I loved th sound of their call coming from the field next to our house.
